Hi guys..and girls. Newbee here.
Anyhow, I just bought a 1970 "cuda 340 pistol grip car. My dream car since I was 15 years old! Now i'm 49."
So, is been totally dissasembled quite a few years ago to be thoroughly restored. Well it has past thru a few hands till me and no one has restored it yet. Some where along the line the fender tag is now lost and so is the dash VIN tag beause the previous owner was gonna have the dash restored so he took it off and lost it.
I contacted AG backeast and they treated me like I am a criminal and a moron.
I have been restoring cars as a hobby my entire life. The car has a valid title and the VIN matches the door sticker...the partial vin on the cowl and the radiator support.
Every body panel has the original B5 blue paint onit" under a hideous maroon repaint. There is no build sheet either...so ya all see my dilema.
I contacted the local state police and they said they might reissue a dash vin tag if everything checks out. My question is..what about the original options? I wanna restore this car to as close as possible but without a fender tag or a build sheet am I clueless?

First of all, welcome aboard!

If you can get the state police on your side to issue a new VIN plate then you're way ahead of a lot of guys out there in the same boat.

Without the fender tag and broadcast sheet, though, you're pretty much boned on knowing what options the car had originally. The parts you have with the car can give you an indicator, though. It might take you a while to "decode" the parts themselves, but we're here to help.

Another thought comes to my mind. This might be a good car to build with all those options you would have ordered if your were buying the car new back in '70, instead of what someone else wanted. I say have fun with it!

Welcome to the site. That is a tough spot to be in. You have only a few options open to you, 1 would be the hope that someone may have your buildsheet. Galen Govier at GTS (Galen's Tag Service) has a stack of build sheets that people have sent him over the years and these have recently been published in the Mopar Collectors Guide Magazine within the last year, I would be happy to check them out for you if you P.M. me your VIN #. 2 post in the Lost and Found forum of all of the major Mopar forums and someone else may be holding on to your documentation as there are more people that gather them other than Galen. CudaChallenger.com, Moparts, this site and there are more I am sure. 3 call the WPC museum at 888-456-1924 and request the build card for your car, there is a fee involved, but if they don't have it you don't pay it, but they take donations so you could let them keep the 45 bucks anyway.
Where is home for you?. Let's see some pics of your ride, we all love car **** here.
