Sorry but no not clocked correctly. 1 st piticture was not so clear . Yes should be clocked where blue arrow is. Like in picture i sent.
Yes top plate can come off in car , but 2 wires are soldered to switch. But also could be one of the tabs on top face of the gear may be broken. Even if small potion of either tab is broke off will not park. So may need a new gear.OK, well that switch must likely be what's wrong with my motor, since i tried the grounds. I assume that top plate can come off the motor while its still on the car?

Thanks Steve, yes, it is 2 speed. Is that very different when it comes to the home position switch? And can it still be serviced attached to the car? That is a 2 speed motor - this thread has been all about 3 speed motors.
Get yourself a service manual and go to the electricals. Section, go to wiper motors. You will need 3 jumper wires, and you can test your wiper motor by the using the battery, not the switch. I did it on my 70 barracuda. With a two speed wiper motor and I fixed it. By the way, you have to test the ohm's on the ballast resistor the ohms should be between 1 and 3 Ω. Anything lower or higher means you need a new ballast ResistorHello all,
I've had my 71 Cuda for a few years now, when I bought it the seller told me the wipers did not work, he had the motor rebuilt (or replaced, I forget), but they did not work. The wiper arms were mismatched and not great looking, so I took them off. I never drive in rain, so not really an issue. Well, I'd like them to work. I took the grilles off and cleaned up a bit in there, but it was pretty good. Sprayed a little silicone on the couple of joints I could see. I assume the fully counter-clockwise position is off/park. When I turn to the first detent, the mechanism seems to work OK. At the second detent, it either stays the same, or just stops. The third detent does nothing. Back to first and it runs. Back to off/park, it reverses direction and parks (like I think it is supposed to).
View attachment 130086Does this seem like a bad switch? Is there a way I can test by doing anything with the wires on the motors gearbox (there are a couple of wires there)?
If it is the switch, how hard is it to swap? Any general guidance? When I've loosened that section of the dash in the past, it doesn't pull out very far to allow access to the connections (or even see them).
I'm attaching a photo of the motor and a video of the mechanism running. Thanks for any help! I guess I don't know how (or if you can) to attach the video.
Also, you might want to try cleaning all the connections on the back of your switch, which will be a pain and a butt to get to without taking off your instrument cluster on the left side where the three switches are. I also cleaned all the connections on the front of the bulkhead connector in the engine compartmentGet yourself a service manual and go to the electricals. Section, go to wiper motors. The factory service manual is a big help for testing the wiper motor with just the car battery and a few wire leads. It's in the electrical section and look up wiper motor. Very simple!Hello all,
