hello purchased some heads from a member here...after they were being shipped ,,was emailed by member that the heads have minor pitting that was just noticed but shouldnt be a problem...well after i got them i sent them to machine shop to get checked...they call me and tell me heads are junk...too much pitting and they have cracks by the spark plug holes,,also they told me that with seats were cut into each other, they are more likely to drop and cause engine damage....i sent a pic of invoice from machine stating heads are cracked to member and hasnt responded...prior to sendng pic of invoice member was told by mechanics that heads are good...therefore a refund wasnt possible but would send me some a list of parts to cover it???...and to top it off some of the exhaust holes threads are gone need helicoils...would you call this minor pitting??

If the member doesn't do you right, let us know who it is. Maybe we can persuade him to do what he would do if your places were reversed. Sorry about the obvious fraud. If you paid with a credit/debit card you can protest the sale.
Sorry about your experience so far with a member of this site, but let me say Welcome aboard.

I ran into a similar issue on a firearms site. Piece was junk, and the person wouldn't cooperate. He was banned, and I had to eat the part.

It wouldn't surprise me to see that it was somebody that joined just to sell the one item and won't be back and likely doesn't even care. Probably needed some money for some more meth.

That is why many sites are not letting people sell until they have a certain amount of posts that are non sale related.

Unless closely moderated, some idiots will post 50 times a day to sell stuff. I say until you have at least 50-100 legit posts...you pay for ads.

If you were a member on yellowbullet.com and posted this thread.....you could have lots of people crucifying this guy. They love tearing up creeps.[and each other] It's a crazy site, but always has the news the quickest, and some really good info and people....as well as morons. It can be like swimming with sharks, with a nosebleed.

I was suspicious about the intake seats being inserted there is no need to do it, even when heads are converted for unleaded fuel or even LPG you only do the exhaust. These were probably cracked between or near the seats and someone has done this to "fix" them. Whenever you see pitting like this it is caused by a crack or hole that allows coolant to pass through the engine and over time it etches or pitts the metal I worked in a cylinder head machine shop for 18 years and every time you see this you can guarantee there will be a crack or hole somewhere. Have them pressure tested and see if they leak from under those valve seat inserts.

hello yes thats member,,still no response and i emailed her other email address that also goes to her phone,...heres last response i had from her...prior to this email which took awhile to respond, reason it took so long she stated there was an death in family...
" I have spoken with the mechanics that I had look at the heads before I put them up for sale and all of them say that they were good workable heads with no cracks and that the gaskets would compensate for the pitting. They all have assured me that they are in no way junk. I was planning to use them myself until I realized I didn't have the offset rockers required for them. I am sorry you are not happy with what you received but I feel like I sold you decent heads. I don't want to leave you feeling ripped off, but a refund just isn't possible. I will go through all my other parts and talk to some friends of mine and hopefully find some way to make it even for you. I will contact you soon with a list of what I have and hopefully we can come to terms"

ive opened a case with pal..so have to see what happens...if not im out 616.00 plus the 60.00 machine shop charged me for a set of boat anchors...

The mechanics that she allegedly took them to are obviously clueless.
I used to work as a machinist in a specialist cylinder head reconditioning shop and am now nearly finished a mature age heavy duty mechanic apprenticeship at an Isuzu truck dealership and can say a mechanic won't have the equipment or knowledge to check a head properly so it's really not the mechanic's fault. Mechanics diagnose the problem, remove the part and send it to a specialist shop for further assessment or if it is obviously junk just fit a new one. I think the best way to check these heads is to have them pressure tested. They bolt a custom made plate that looks like a real thick head gasket with no coolant holes and a rubber mat to seal it against the face of the head, then attach 2 small side plates to the 2 water passages on the intake flange one of these will have an air line fitting screwed into it plug an air line in and put it in a tub of water and look for bubbles this will show up the exact location of any leaks in the castings. They used to charge about $50 a head to do this I suspect these heads will leak from underneath those valve seat inserts.
