Putting together a 512 motor with 440 source kit. The kit came with Edelbrock RPM intake. I will be putting this in a 1970 Challenger. I didn't think of hood clearance when ordering the kit. I am now worried with the raised manifold, I am going to have clearance issues with the hood now. I would like to use the original air cleaner off the car if possible. Does anyone have any insight on this? Someone out there has done this before.

Have you measured yet to see if you have clearance? The rallye sport hood is a coupe inches higher than a flat hood. Also there's a dropped air cleaner base like from Mancini.

If none of that works, get a Holley Street Dominator single plane intake. That intake is like 40 years old but still holds its own against more modern intakes only giving up a few ft-lbs of torque or horsepower. It's ugly, but gets the job done!

As mentioned above or worse case scenario, you could always mill some off of the carb mounting flange area. Or could even install up to 1"K frame spacers to lower the engine in the engine bay.

I guess I lean on it one too many times.Original bottle, pretty dry rot. Finally removed it, new one not high on the priority list.

Beautiful car, for sure. I too have the Edelbrock air cleaner like you have. To ensure I had clearance I replaced the 3" element that came with it with a 2" K&N element to gain an inch. I currently have the Performer intake and will go to the RPM some day. Am running the Edelbrock VRS carb which is about 1/2" taller than the AVS2 I was using.

Are you building a low deck motor or an RB motor? Either one should clear with a Rallye hood, but a low deck motor will have more clearance.

I'm sorry, it is a 440 based 512. My engine builder brought it to my attention that the edelbrock RPM was 1 3/4" taller then the stock manifold. We are wanting to run the factory dual snorkle air cleaner for the factory look. As someone stated, the rally rood is a few inches taller, so I am hoping that will give me enough clearance. If not, a aftermarket one will work. Thanks for the info fellas!

I did use an Edelbrock CH4B. It does fit with a flat hood but it’s super close. Thats also a 440 source 512.
