When I turn key all the I have power, ignition box light is green but nothing happens, no click or turn , as all the symptoms of a fried selonoid. I can start the car with a screwdriver at the selonoid. Mechanic check it over looked at ignition switch also but agree it was probably bad selonoid. Changed it twice ( taught first one might be defective) and yet nothing, will still start with screwdriver however. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Have you checked the neutral switch on the gearbox sometimes the plug will come off
The black & yellow stripe wire is in series with a neutral / reverse switch should be closed in park your linkages may also be slightly out.

74 may have a seatbelt switch that does not allow the car to start. I rarely work on anything newer than 71 so I am unsure. I remember a unit under the hood on the drivers side that did something. I am thinking it was called an interconnect.

thanks guys, turn out it was just a 3 pronged plug (I want a say it's the starter cable, only had the car a few days, so I got to confirm what part it is) that is loose and get disconnect as soon as drive the car. Car would not start again after stop, got under the car and sure enough that plug was unhooked again. Dang it, spent so much time looking at every thing else :)

I Think you might have been right, looked at it again today, it's a 3 pronged wire underneath the car that seem to connect to the gearbox??
I cleaned it all up but it still look wonky. What you you suggest to make sure this wire stay in place, electric tape ??
