A callout to mopar rocker folks. As I continue to learn more about my (new/old) dodge, I removed the valve covers and was surprised to see something other than a stock rocker setup. Would anyone know what this sort of adjustable system could be?

That could be a stock set up, with new adjusting hardware. Or aftermarket Crane, ISKY, etc.
Some 273s and 340s (I think) had the adjustable rockers.

Would this adjustment be for lifter preload? Or perhaps this is a solid lifter configuration making the adjustment for the valves?

I had a set of isky ductile iron adjustable on my 440, quite a bit different, but similar as far as application and looked like the ductile iron, they are made of. and adjustable for both applications

They certainly look like stock 273 lifters with aftermarket adjusters, a must add for 340’s if you were going solid lifters back in the day. T/A rockers for exhaust are almost identical but not quite.
