I didn't like that extra long tube either. It snaked everywhere, and as mentioned, the dipstick was 2 pieces riveted together. It did not slide in or out worth a sh*t.
I ended up using using the dipstick that came with the crate motor (it was on right side). A little tweak and it was a straight shot down between my TTI shorties on left side.

I never even looked into that option. Did you need to re-mark it? Also, I like how you mounted your throttle bell crank. Much cleaner than mine.

I do like that "right up the side of the engine" approach. It's not a straight shot but it's way better than the crazy route the two-piece version takes.

I'm going to see if I can find something like that, or I was also considering a flexible dipstick solution which I used on the transmission of my 55 chevy build and it worked pretty good.

I used the Holley dip stick.

Holley Gen III Hemi Oil Dipstick and Tube Kits 302-74 purchased from Holley direct. it was about $40. it bolted up easily and like yours dropped in just between the last two cylinders on the drivers side. Had to punch out the factory plug on the block. it has a stiff cable and "bullet" nosed bottom that sits in the pan. it ties into the bolt holes on the valve cover. worked like a champ and doesn't take any effort at all to pull out or put in.

Any chance you have a pic of it installed?
Curious where it bolts to engine and routing.
All these headers are different, so it's a crapshoot

Thx

I've got the Holley blackheart cast manifolds with ceramic coating. the dipstick barely clears the back of the longer starter, but it snakes almost directly up from the block. It attaches to the valve cover. I did have to do a little adjusting, but overall, I'm happy with the fitment. I apologize for the lack of a wide shot of the installation, the engine is mounted on an engine stand and I'm too lazy to drag all the cars out and pull it out from the corner. hope you can see what you need to see. if not, let me know and i'll take some additional shots.

I have used a few. Second picture with yellow handle is the Holley one. First picture is one from JEGS. Link below. View attachment 133118https://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/616...MIw_rmgcO8igMVUTrUAR2d7im_EAQYCCABEgKfW_D_BwE

Appreciate the pics, I have TTI shortie headers.
I'm trying to visualize the routing, looks to be close to block with a slight s-curve, right to left.

The pics are super helpful. I bought the same Blackheart manifolds for mine. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you! I knew if I dragged my feet long enough, someone would come up with a more workable dip stick than the Bouchillon one. I didn't have to pull that snaky thing out much but it is a PIA, I just ordered the Holley one from Summit Racing. I have the TTI Pan and headers but it should work out fine for me. Is it marked correctly or did you have to re-mark it?
