You all are probably saying, "Here we go again." The reason I am asking what the oil capacity of the 440 Magnum is because I did not build the car and keep finding surprises here and there. I have in my automatic 1970 Challenger. I changed the oil and filter the other day and put 6 quarts in it. The chrome Taiwan made dipstick showed about a quart over the full mark with 6 quarts. I ordered an OEM oil stick from Mancini and it showed the same.
I forgot to look at where the level was before I drained the oil. The owner's manual says the capacity should be 7 quarts with the oil filter. I am afraid to put any more oil in it but also afraid not to put enough in it. I think the oil pan is stock. Sump is about an inch below the front crossmember. The drain is at the rear of the pan (center sump). I have read where some put in the 7 quarts and remarked their oil stick. I know SBF and SBCs but it has been a learning experience with MOPARS.
I appreciate you all's expertise.
