Hi guys, I have a 72 Cuda with a new fuel tank in it.

When I fill the car I get fuel leaking from the top of the tank somewhere. It stops after a few miles of driving.

Would the suspected culprit be the large rubber o ring at the filler neck.?

Thanks in Advance.

I would suspect that, too. Now to drop the tank, or look at that area, one normally has to remove the rear lower valance. You may be able to confirm the suspicions if you can catch a glimpse from the top.

I think you can unscrew the upper filler neck seal, screwed to the floor of the trunk pan, and work it up the fill tube enough to take a peak at the large round rubber gasket on the tank, through which the filler tube goes.

If not, you gotta pull the lower valance to see, and/or repair.
