Anybody make a 4 spd console out of an auto?

I know that the top plates are different, and there really is no doubt that you can cut out the side where the 4 spd boot is. My queston is if you can cut out the ash tray area at the back and turn a 71+ console into a 70. I am just wandering if the ribbing is the same underneath the ashtray.

Nevermind. dug out my 70 and post 70 consoles. Just going to do it.

I have an auto 70 console, just bought a DESTROYED 71+ manual console w/ good topplate. Gonna use the 71+ console for the pattern for the cut out and the top plate. Gonna convert the 70 to manual status
