Brakes????

Ok fellas I live in a part of country where no one likes mopars, it seems. I can not get any answers here. I have a 73 Challenger I have acquired through a trade. Car has no vin plates an a reestablished ID number from Colorado. I called Colorado an checked out title an they say it is a good title. But this doesn't help me with any particulars with car. HAs front disc and rear drum brakes. Is this a normal thing for 73. I am having trouble with getting the brake peddle to release all way back after braking. Checked vacuum through service manuals I purchased for 1973 Dodges. I believe it is connected to intake best I can see.

Welcome to the site from the Motor City! Let's see some pics of the car. Front discs wouldn't be out of the ordinary for the car. I'm assuming it doesn't have a fender tag or a build sheet with it?
There will be some body numbers stamped in the sheet metal in a couple of different places, 1 on top of the cowl by the drivers side windshield wiper pivot and the other on the top yoke of the radiator core support also on driver's side facing the top tank of the radiator.

Yes found them. They gave some info, but most important info like original engine not there color codes interior normal need to know stuff. Havent pulled rear seat to see if build sheet might be there. If that is where I might find it.

Waiting on rear drum parts to rebuild them. Wheel cylinders and all, install a new set of shoes and try to bleed again. Car seems to stop great but pedal just wont return. thus leaving brakes somewhat applied. Installed a 400 hp 318 with 904.

Wiring has been butchered, have purchased Painless kit to rewire. Hood on it was a Black fiberglass POS. Dash needs some care someone used one of them stick on cover up POS'S. All in all it is 98 percent rust free. Solid floor boards,trunk fenders. missing a lot of parts like inner fender gaurds to keep weather out of cabin. Drivers door needs some small sheet metal repair. vinly top needs ripped off. Rust bubbles under it around both rear roof pillars, minor damage across base of rear window from vinly leaking . All normal stuff. but mainly car is sound

I have put a great bit out for smalls like complete window rollers,guides ect. Weather stripping and the new hood. Not to mention engine carb an pulling my hair out trying to find out about Passing cable linkage setting. Now brakes argh, would sell it if I could get 10k for it

It sounds likely that your problem might be the linkage going to the master cylinder is hanging up or sticking. just my 2cents!!!

Rope on brake pedal seems to Hillbilly for me getting aggravating. Not to mention a pain just to get pedal to totally release

Check your brake hoses. I suspect a partially clogged rear hose. The master will overcome it with it's pressure. The pressure on the fluid to return is much weaker and will cause the pedal problem you are having.

Do a complete brake bleed with fresh fluid and a clean, clear container. This will let you see the strength of the flow from each wheel and any debris in the system.

Thanks awaiting a fella to bring me a power bleeder an help do all 4 wheels. Hopefully this will help.I have taken all thought in deep concern and only wish to make the ole car right.

yes have done all this, awaiting a power bleedr=er from a friend to draw fluid through all lines an see what I come up with. Thanks for your insight. Been suggested the cam may not be letting me draw adequate vacuum.
