Car buying RANT - Original Parts Missing or Changed.

Reading the thread posted recently by 'KennyCuda' - ( Radio ) his belief the car came with 8 Track stereo was replaced with AM - has caused him to pass with the purchase of that car, due to the fact owner may have changed it out.

This has prompted me the start this tread -

How many of us have purchased or NOT - cars in similar situation of missing or changed Original parts?

Definitely without a doupt has causes to get you Frustrated! Right?

For me, it didn't matter which manufacturer. I was just looking for a hot rod/muscle car. Options didn't matter at all, just wanted a V8 in it. I got stupid lucky and found this car for $2,000 sitting in a field thanks to my CHP buddy. I never realized how much time and money I'd spend on it, but it's all good now. Cheers!

I'm confident the 8-track player wasn't the only factor in their decision not to buy. If it was, well, that's up to the buyer to decide.

I've had a good number of E-body Barracudas pass through my possession over the years. All of them before 1995, every one under $1000, and in pretty sorry shape. None of them contained all the original parts, and most of them rusty as all get out. But that didn't deter me. The radio, wheels and the carburetor seem to be among the more common things changed by an owner.

But that was all back in a time before these were "collector cars" and prior to the uptick of dishonesty and fraud. Present day, nothing puts me off more than dishonesty. People should be free to do whatever they want to a car they own. But when they're selling it, and lying about it, yea, that's a red flag for me.

Let's put this in perspective, these cars are 50+ years old now! If you're holding out for one that's not missing original parts, you better have some really deep pockets! Just sayin!

usually its something that seems off about the story line - not just the missing parts.
its common to find these cars in missing many original parts. for the most part for me, its not the common things you see" its the hidden things you dont - like the body panels.
I remember one car I bought only 6 years old in 1975 that the whole complete car had some kind of very thick material ( not bondo ) covering all the body panels. the quarters had 1/2"
kinda was like mining for precious metals ! when sanding it off -
