Hi all! I have “mostly restored“ 73 Challenger Rallye with 11k original miles - in which all of the gauges do not work, are really faded. Question is, how do you go about replacing the speedometer without messing up the mileage?

It should make perfect sense when you have the speedometer out and want to swap the odometer.

By the way, back in the day it was a crime to tamper with the odometers, but these cars are so old, no one really cares unless it's a super rare, highly desirable model (i.e. original 426 or 440-6) with low mileage.

If you send your speedo out for repair to a place like Redline Gauge Works, they will give you the option of having your odometer reset or keeping the original mileage.
