I been looking for a 71 Challenger like the one my dad had when I was a kid for a long time, anyway to make a long story not as long I found a 72 a few days ago and bough t it. It was so funny because I had been looking all over the country and ended up finding this one 25 miles from my home. I went to look at it, and when I put the key in the door was still open and the buzzer still worked, and a flashing light on the dash was telling me to buckle up, can you believe that? Also has a cold working A/C! The inside was real nice, and had a small amount of rust on the outside. Floors were good, light rust in the trunk, and the frame rails had some surface rust. The sucker drove smooth down the road, so I bought it! I almost paid 15 for one a few weeks ago, but got this one for I get to pick it up Tuesday, and can't wait! All matching #'s too.

Just got it home, thought I'd share a pic. It needs some work, but it's a good start.

Thanks! When I run the A/C for a long period of time it starts dripping water from the dash on the passanger side. I don't it's been doing it long because the floor pan is solid. Tons of people was giving me the thumbs up in town today. :)

Better fix the evaporator drain quick. Either the drain tube is plugged or the drain tube is missing. Check in the engine compartment, firewall below heater hoses. If it is still there, just take a coat hanger or something similar and stick it in the drain tube to check for obstructions, common. If the drain pipe is missing, very easy to get and very cheap in price.

There should be a tube that spits out condensation. You may want to check on that. Un-less the case is cracked.

Ok, I checked itand the cover had a chunk of dirt covering the end. I unplugged that, and ran a plastic tube in there and it went about 10 inches and stopped. How far should it go before it stopps? Do you think the dirt on the end was the problem? I think is was dirt dobbers that plugged it, it had been setting in a barn.

It started doing it again today, I wonder if it would help to take an air hose and blow air through it? The thing blows good and cold, just need to fix this drip. I ran a thick plastic tube into the drain yesterday, but guess it didn't help, if this is an easy fix I want to get it done, but A/C is a weak point of mine.

When you say it had a chunk of dirt covering the end, the end of what ? How about a picture of the area that is leaking. Can you get the car up on a rack to check it from beneath ?

It was covering the end of the drain tube below the heater hose in the firewall. Where the water drains out, but the leak is under the dash on the passenger side.

If the drain isn't plugged, than the evaporator case is likely cracked or the drain nipple is broken. In either case you will have to remove the a/c heater box to repair. You will need to remove the refrigerant before you remove the case. If you know someone who can evacuate the a/c system and then recharge when it is repaired, you can save a lot of money buying r-12 if that is what it has in it.

I was up town in my car yesterday and a Guy came up to me and said what will it take to buy this Car? I said it's not for sale, and he said just tell me what it will take to buy it, and I said again sorry it's not for sale. He did not want to give up, but he gave me his address and left. The car is really nice inside, and everything works, it has 141,000 miles on it. It runs and drives good, but has just been sitting for a long while. All it needs is brakes, and a new carb. The Carb works good, but it's leaking a small amount of fuel between the carm and the intake manifold. I believe it's a bad gasket, but I may just buy a new Carb for it.

I am confused, was there a point to the comments about how this guy wouldn't take no for an answer? And then you say how nice the car is. Are you wondering what price to give this guy ?
