Hello there. I'm Joe, a lifelong Mopar owner. I've always had a Mopar in the driveway mostly 64 to 71 b body cars. I currently drive a 68 Sport Satellite with a 426 hemi 4 speed. Although I have bought and sold several e body cars I've never "owned" one until this week when I bought this 1970 Gran Coupe Barracuda. Its a very solid, complete car that has had a lot of sloppy work done to it, I mean they painted the engine compartment black, screwed the door panels on and butchered nearly the entire wire system. It does have a new 594hp 512ci engine (painted black) with a Tremec 5 speed, rally dash and a well done interior. Its an original F7 car. My plan is to pull out the engine and paint engine compartment proper and replace the under dash and engine compartment wires. I'd like to get the a/c working too. I know my way around b body cars but since this it the first e body I will be doing real work on I'll need the expert advice this forum offers!

Cool car, the stroker with a 5 or 6 speed is cool! I know that’s fun, cuz I have a similar set up. You are in the right place for experience, as these guys really know their e bodies. 👍🏻 glad you’re here.

Welcome To FEBO. Nothing like discovering someone else's handy work.
butchered nearly the entire wire system.
We might be able to help you with that here. I would keep the battery disconnected until you get the butcher job wrapped up. Having had mopars you might have that under control.

Follow the dots. Understand how it's wired first. Blue charge circuit, yellow battery supply, red ACC circuit. Headlight sw is feed from splice one under dash.
One word explains the wiring and connections. Inadequate! Read Description and follow the dots. The wiring is not heavy enough and the connection were not designed to carry that much amperage 1:RED wire 16 Battery power yellow dot to splice one feeds fuse block, 2:charge wire 18 black wire blue dots to splice one through amp meter to red wire blue dot 16 to battery, 3:ACC feed from splice 1 Red wire Q3_12R yellow dot to steering column. Black wire 12BK red dot to ACC side of fuse box.ch load. The round back alt has an output of 37 to 45 amps max and the wiring is designed for that.
When everything is in good shape.

I have considered purchasing an underdash and engine harness from Classic or Vans. From what Ive read the dash needs to come out but its the proper way to do it.

When I drove it home on the 5 there was a slow down then a clearing so I put it in 3rd and floored it. I can assure you I'll never do it again, a burnout at 50 mph is not as exciting as it sounds! I think it has more engine than I need
Same with mine. I changed from 3.91's to 3.23's and the thing got faster. I really should have done 2.76's with 450 TQ at the wheel. Think of the fun you had though.

Just the opposite on mine. I changed from 3.23’s to 3.91’s with the Tremec 5 speed.
It feels just right to me. Rarely in 5th until I’m on the freeway. Fun stuff
