Thought I should probably stop lurking and say hello.

I have a 70 Challenger in the UK. Came into the country 20 years ago, been in the family for around 17, alongside a 68 Barracuda that my Brother and I owned for around 25 years or so.

Fast forward, my Brother passed away and I couldn’t keep two cars, so I moved the Barracuda on and took sole ownership of the Challenger. It’s undergone a lot of change since then.

Was originally a red, poverty spec /6 car, came in from Oakland CA. The original UK owner had it for three years and swapped in a 360 and a quick blow over in a non-original orange that I’ve never been able to match 100%. Prep was badly done, so it was falling off in places and generally needed a lot of attention all round.

In more recent years and a fair amount of mods later, its been geared towards running in Nostalgia Superstock, here in the UK.

Not setting anything on fire, time wise, but plenty of plans for more power, so chassis and suspension etc has come first.

Anyway, enough rambling from me, the forums in the UK have all but died now, so thought this would be the best place for stupid questions from now on.

Couple of pics for you, including the latest winter project pic.

Hope you all don’t mind some unknown Limey nicking one of your old cars… ;)

Welcome from across the pond. Ha, I have a tach in a storage box just like yours. Question, do you folks run 1/8 and 1/4 mile over there or is it metric distance? Just curious, not trying to be an a$$. Cheers!

Cheers. Hopefully the hood will give me the clearance I need for the next part of the build and shave a fair chunk of weight, from the hefty steel flat hood. Double win.

Juan Veldez, fair question, but still 1/4 mile, no metric. 😁

We’re down to one main track now, Santa Pod Raceway, having lost the main rival a few years ago. There are a couple of 1/8th mile tracks dotted about, but I’ve not used them, so can’t comment on them.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I probably should have put some “before” pics up, as there has been a lot of work to get it to where it is now, along with the help and advice of some key Mopar guys here in the UK. Apart from the overall orange-ness of it, it’s a very different car to when we got it. It’s a labour of love, though, so well worth it. No intention of it ever leaving the family, my teenage daughter is very involved and will carry it on when I’m shuffled off…
