Nice one Rick,

Lovely Challenger and a great colour too!
You must be pleased as punch to dive her on those lovely flat roads.

To me a 318 Challenger should be upgraded to a 340.
Built some nice 318's here in England but the 340 is the best small-block around.

I met a German guy at the Euronats UK some 10 years ago.
He drove his 340 Challenger over a 1000 miles to be there and then drive it down the drag strip at 12.00!

Good luck in all you do from sunny Kent UK.
On a good day we can see Holland, Belgium and France too.

Ty! The roads in the Netherlands are idd always nice to drive on. Mostly flat but i live close to the German border so we got some regions with hills. So i got choice enough!

Ofcourse a 340 is better then the 318, but a 360 is better then the 340, and the 440 is even better! And ofcourse a hemi is the best. But i bought the car and wanne build this one due to emotial value and i don't need a big hp car.

In the Netherlands u don't have to pay taxes for an car older then 40 years. U only got insurance cost and u can drive here. I pay €45,- for insurence fully covered.

That confirms it the insurance industry is a racket here. Never have an accident and the insurance rate goes up. They say to recover there losses to stay in business.

There some rules ofcourse, u must have a regular car so u don't abuse it as a daily driver. These rules are made so car fanatics can drive there old cars.

No a 360 isn't better than a 340 for several reasons though...
A Challenger needs a 340 because its the BEST small block option.

There was a time the post 1971 340 was seen as a big 318 as that's all it was.
But with a steel crank and some trick iron heads it will perform well...:thumbsup:

You were supposed to say Rick ''where will a find a 340''???

There not very common in europe no, but still if i can get a 340 or 360 i still wouldn't swap it. I rather have the number matching 318, a 440 or hemi would be more difficult to say no 2 but i'm sure the prices for them make it less difficult

As RB.Challenger73 said else where. stock. A 318 with a machining clean up as he is doing. Then a few cost effective improvements. You don't need the best of everything but make the best of what you have.

I thought i change the internals before reassembling and other performamce upgrades can be added later on. I use the money now for mopar performance valve covers and air filter. Then i got a complete and clean 318 who runs like it should.

I have been soundly put in my place with 318 love!
There was a time a 340 was seen as the 'holy grail' of smallblocks.

My 318 love is earlier in production, as in 318 Poly engines (pre 1966).
We have bored and stroked them to 402 cubes which is the same deal with an LA 318.

I will save my 340 for when I get my own Challenger then, if only.
