I just brought my 1970 Barracuda home, original 318 running and driving but needs a little TLC. My plans are to add coil over suspension, new paint job and install a 5.7 hemi out of a 04 ram into the car. I will post some photos soon…

Thanks

Welcome aboard. Is this your first restoration? If so ,You can save yourself a lot of grief by taking lots of pictures before and during disassembly and get a huge box of Ziplock bags to tag and store the parts as you take them off. Believe me there is nothing like a box full of parts and not remembering exactly where everything goes
We are here to help any way that we can.

Thanks fellas I actually restored a 66 ford mustang. I always wanted a 70 barracuda and finally found a great deal on one which also came with a 5.7 hemi motor/trans as part of the sale (out of 04ram).
I planning to start paint in the next two weeks going to paint the car Granite Crystal metallic.

I need to find out what wheels I will be running on the car, I would like to go with a 20x10 in the rear and 18 in the front. I will be swapping to coil over suspension which should free up some space in the rear. Any of you guys know what offset I can run in the rear without rubbing? would like to go as wide a possible...

Here are some photos of the new Barracuda along with my old mustang.

To run a 10 inch rim with a outward dish on the wheel you need a 5 - 6 inch backspace. With the coil overs the amount of backspace will change. When I did a 70 Challenger with coils and the Air Ride system, the suspension was installed first and then I measured wheels and tires to fit the space. With what you are contemplating the wheels and tires are the last piece you should get for the car.

Thanks for the feedback, my plan is paint first, suspension, wheels and tires and finally the 5.7 hemi motor which should go in with the front suspension.

I would still do the wheels last. Suspension and engine weight will change things.
