Hey
We've got a 70 challenger with power windows and a sunroof and were trying to figure it all out. The dash is out of the car and we have it powered from a battery through the bulk head like it would be in the car.

We are reusing the old harness for the power windows that runs under the dash but aren't having much luck. The service manual we have shows the harness plugging into a safety relay with 4 prongs on it. one of which being a back ground that separate from a 3 connector. The relay that was on the old harness only has the 3 pronged connector. when that's plugged in we don't have power to the tan lead wire that goes to the drivers side plug in. when we ground the white wire on the safety relay plug in that gives us power to the tan one. but then all the other accessories quit working.

So we are wondering what should the relay down there look like and do we have the right one.

I looked up in my 70-71 parts book, I couldn't find your part number 2983872 listed in the book.
2932834 is listed as Relay w/bracket electric window lift, fitting 70 Barracuda and Challenger.
This part is also listed as fitting 71 and up B body, C body and Imperial models, unfortunately no picture of it.
In your picture that single black wire is the ground, correct?

Yep, the single black is a ground that leads to the driver side plug in and grounds right into the kick panel there. Here is the picture from the service manual we are going from and it looks like the relay is supposed to have a ground attached to it. At least that's how I see it.

Welcome to FEBO from New Jersey
Sounds like a cool Challenger with the power windows and factory sun roof.
Not many sun roof cars made; pretty rare.
Check out this web site.
There is a whole section of Challengers with factory sunroofs listed;

It probably is a 4 terminal relay. The ground is probably "made" somewhere else in the system to allow that relay to pull in sometimes it is the opposite ground is removed to not allow it to operate.
Try JS Restorations there is not much he does not know.

Thanks everyone! we wired in a relay with 4 terminals and we have power where we should have. Lets hope it still works after the dash goes into the car.

For the car, the previous owner painted it pink and added the R/T stuff. originally it was a green car with green top and a darker green trim on the sides. Because of the early build date we think it might have been a showroom car. IT supposedly also came with a hitch from the factory as well but we aren't sure if that will be put back on or not

Heres a picture of the fender tag and a decoder we found online. We hope to have it done and bring down to Midwest Mopars in the Park in Farmington, MN.

And from the Mopar sunroof registry it says that "The option code for the power sunroof is M51, but this code does not appear on the fender tag. What usually appears on the fender tag to identify 1970 "factory" power sunroof Challengers in
a special six digit vehicle order number (VON). The VON will start with K00 for "factory" sunroof cars."

Couple of corrections for your tag - JW23 should be JH23, and W6F8 should be H6F8. Pretty good list of options on this car including the correct VON for the sunroof. I plan on being at Midwest Mopars - would love to see the car there! Scott.

Awesome chally!
You probably don't have the v5f moldings do you?

Regardless that is one cool ride! Like the pink too.
Have you looked for a build sheet in the car?

The correct relay should have a tab that slides into a slot on the left side of the fuse block. Sorry, no pics.
