Which Holley

Looking for a Holley carb for my 70 383 TF , which is good for cruising and a little hotrod-n , looking at the Demon , any opinions .

For the Holley style carb I like the Quickfuel HR 750. The ability to tune various areas (like the air bleeds, PVCR) make them an excellent choice. Alternatively, I also like the Edelbrock AVS2. For your setup, a great choice would be the AVS2 650. With the annular boosters it has superior low speed throttle response that is very close to that of fuel injection. Your choice, of course, depends on the build level of your engine as well as what your intended use is. I bought the Edelbrock tuning kit with my carb so I could tune it to what the engine wants.

The standard bore 383 would have to be hitting over 6000 RPM before it outgrows a 750 CFM. Maybe even a 650. Either one would be great. I second the AVS2, and I'm a fan of the Carter AVS carburetors, so my opinion is biased.

I dont know what I like for a carb , it has been in the shop for 3 months , it has a edlebrock 1406 on it now but the shop is having trouble getting it clean and running , they recommend Holley but not sure what I want , I should now today sometime if the rebuild kit works for the eddy .

I've had problems with the older 1406 carbs. In fact I stayed away from Edelbrock carbs for a long time after that. The AVS2 changed things for me. Some shops prefer what they are comfortable with so that may be why they like Holley's. My AVS2 idles much cleaner than the QF I have. I prefer how the secondaries work on the QF carb, but the AVS2 is a winner for street driving for me.

If they dont get it running good Im looking at the Edelbrock 1906 AVS2 650 , my car does have an Edelbrock TM6 also .

Agreed. I'm comfortable adjusting the Carter AVS and Edelbrock AVS2, so I would sway to that over a Holley. but others sway the other way. Either family, properly tuned and set up, will run well, all things being equal.

Yes sir, I agree completely!
By the way the shop said the AVS2 is perfect but they couldn't figure out the kickdown and the brackets angle was off so the trans was shifting weird , they just discovered it had a 440 6pack cable and bracket , so 1 more thing to fix .

You can hunt down the original pieces if you still have the OE manifold or you can do like I did and go to the Lokar cable setup for both throttle & kickdown. Not difficult to set up and works great. If you go that route you won't need to get the Mopar throttle lever extension that would be necessary for fitting the AVS2 to the OE style throttle/kickdown.

Many struggle to find a complete OEM throttle pressure linkage setup, when they're in need, and opt for the Lokar cable. The latter works with differing intake manifolds.

So the angle is off maybe because of the Edelbrock TM6 intake .

I know people use the lokar cables and like them and they work alright, but it looks too Chevy to me! I prefer to just use the adapter.

Hey man , they have that bracket , they ordered the right cables apparently , my cuda was built at a junkyard.
