I'm trying to figure out the difference between Y1 and JD. I bought a dash from Y1 and installed it in my 71 Cuda. However, there were some issues with it that I didn't know about and was wondering if the fitment from JD might be a better choice.

Some of the issues that I had with the Y1 dash were:

1) the underside of the dash had the foam still on it. The "overspray" was about 1/8 of an inch, which I thought wouldn't make a difference when mounting the dash pad to the dash frame. Boy, was I wrong. After wrestling it in and out of the car a few times, I recognized the overspray foam on the underside of the dash resulted in the misalignment of the dash with the bolts that are used to bolt the dash frame to the car.

2) when putting on the lower dash trim, it caused the right hand side to split/crack, which virtually destroyed the dash trim and I will either have to repair it or buy a new one.

If you've had experience with the fitment of these dashes, please let me know. I am thinking of using JD, as I have the original core, but it looks like they are twice as expensive as Y1.

My personal experience with Just Dashes was that I sent them a core and they did their thing and made it PERFECT. Took about 6 months for the turn around. Dropped some serious coinage, but was very happy. Good fitment was a given, because I sent them mine, so I can't comment on a complete replacement.

Just Dashes also gets my vote.

It seems like it's a situation where you get what you pay for here. Thanks for weighing in.
