Thanks- that's what I'll be doing, giving it more time to consider. But... I may post a WTB for the correct exhaust manifolds.
That's exactly what you should do. The #549 and #553 manifolds fit the A body 340 cars as well. There is often a set or two floating around FABO at any given time. It's interesting the price increase in those things in the last year or two. For a long time, a nice set would sell for $500. Now they are $7-800 with the really nice pairs commanding upwards of a thousand.

I'm will be putting my six pack on my AAR, was going back and forth on the header/ manifold, car will look stock pretty much anyways, so going with the manifold. around a 500hp stroker into a long head pipe into power stick chambered exhaust pipe, similar to the innards of the side pipes on the older vette's. Then found a place that sells AAR stainless exhaust tips that are not baffled in the trumpet outlet. probably will be loud as hell, but I'm good with that.

Sounds Perfect!
Kinda thinking I should have stayed with the manifolds myself. I used the 440 carbs on my 6 barrel intake. My 340 is close to 440. Runs excellent.

Sort of related question: I am replacing the 318 in my 70 Gran Coupe with a 340. I have manifolds from 71. Are there any issues with fit in my 70? I also have a firm feel power steering box. Will be dropping it in in the next week or so. Probably go with a TTI setup.

Thanks

You should have no problems. The 70-74 engine bays are all the same and your 318 & 340 are the same external size. If the 318 with manifolds fit, the 340 with the same manifolds will fit. You mention probably going with a TTI set up. If you're talking headers, pay attention to the footnotes for the set of headers you are considering. TTI has been at this a while and their stuff fits very well.

No. It will be the 71 340 manifolds. Thanks for the info.
