Need a new distibutor

I need to replace the distributor on my 340 and am looking at the MSD 8534. I have a MSD 6AL ignition box. Do I go mechanical or vacuum advance? I like the billet distributors and don't want to spend $400 bucks. Somewhere around $200 would be better. Mancini looks to have some good choices too. Suggestions? What do you run on your small block that you like?

Pulled the trigger on the MSD 8534. Always wanted one of those billet deals.
