Hello all,
I've had my 71 Cuda for a few years now, when I bought it the seller told me the wipers did not work, he had the motor rebuilt (or replaced, I forget), but they did not work. The wiper arms were mismatched and not great looking, so I took them off. I never drive in rain, so not really an issue. Well, I'd like them to work. I took the grilles off and cleaned up a bit in there, but it was pretty good. Sprayed a little silicone on the couple of joints I could see. I assume the fully counter-clockwise position is off/park. When I turn to the first detent, the mechanism seems to work OK. At the second detent, it either stays the same, or just stops. The third detent does nothing. Back to first and it runs. Back to off/park, it reverses direction and parks (like I think it is supposed to).
Does this seem like a bad switch? Is there a way I can test by doing anything with the wires on the motors gearbox (there are a couple of wires there)?
If it is the switch, how hard is it to swap? Any general guidance? When I've loosened that section of the dash in the past, it doesn't pull out very far to allow access to the connections (or even see them).
I'm attaching a photo of the motor and a video of the mechanism running. Thanks for any help! I guess I don't know how (or if you can) to attach the video.
