You are going to need to measure the compressed length and the extended length to calculate the correct shock for the new application.
So9 car suspension bottomed out and extended with shocks disconnected.
Before you do anything, can you give us some details ?
When did this start to happen ? Was it after you made any parts changes or adjustnments to the engine.
Things generally just don't happen on their own so we need to back up to when it started to happen to properly diagnose your issue...

Just a little advice. These are torsion springs and scratches/gouges can cause a stress/weak spot.

That is correct. Have you tested the tach ? There so many questions that need to be answered. This is a50+ year old system. There were adapters, replacement tach boards and not everything is compatable. Unless you are tyhe original owner, a lot of things could have been done in 50 years.

Don't bother with it. You need a proper Frame as well as dash pad core.
