my local paint jobber has a spray on bedliner, raptor brand. have used this on several cars, no problems at all, leaves a satin black finish. i know it's not restoration kosher but if your gonna drive your car and want to protect the underlying metal, this stuff is like spraying a coat of plastic over it. impervious to chemicals and water, easy to keep clean, just pressure wash it and it looks new again. hope this helps

...I would stay with a painted underbody /floor and check the paint several times a year for damage...

The sprayover stuff often / not always / hides RUST

Just my 2 Cents

Thanks for the advise guys. If you note earlier in my post for this thread you will see that I wound up going with the Lizard skin system (about two years ago). Received my TTi shorty's today. They fit awesome without needing to jack the car up or remove the starter. I wound up going with the ceramic coated polished. 001.jpg004.jpg

That's why I post pictures Leo is to get feedback from the pros.
Thanks again Leo! We'll get this car on the road some day.

Need information on how the gas tank filler tube gets mounted. I am assuming I will need to drop the tank somewhat in order to get the filler tube into the tank as I am not able to work the tube into the tank with the tank in it' installed position. Unless the flange on the filler tube is suppose to go on the outside of the car and not the inside?? I do have a new gasket from my Detroit Muscle paint gasket kit and a new grommet that goes on the filler tube that goes into the tank. I have the flip open gas cap. Any pictures or help would be great.

Let the tank drop down some. I take the passenger side tank strap off and leave the drivers side loose. You will need someone to hold the tank if you take the passenger side strap off. Put the tube seal on the tank. Put the trunk floor seal on the tube. Bring the tube through the floor and into the tank. Bring the tank back up into place. Be careful the tube does not wedge itself against the inside of the quarter panel while raising the tank. It could cause a dent. Line up the filler neck to the inside of the quarter. Put foam seal between quarter and filler neck. Screw the flip to cap on with the gasket on the outside under the trim ring. The flip top screws go through the quarter and into the filler neck. Lastly attach the trunk floor filler neck gasket.

Trivia: Do you know why Dodge designers put the filler neck on the passenger side? It was to keep people safe if they ran out of gas and had to refill along the road.

I "assumed" that was kind of the way it needed to be done. You guys freak me out on how much you know about these cars. The knowledge is endless. Interesting stuff about the passenger side fill. Thank you for your help!!

I don't have a gasket that goes on the outside of the quarter panel that goes under the trim ring. Detroit Muscle gave me some miscellaneous rolls of gasket material so I assume I am suppose to use that in between the trim ring and the paint.
I told my wife and 14 year old daughter today Leo's version of why the fill tube is on the passengers side. I have a big lump on my head now:violent1:

LOL. I don't know how necessary the outside gasket is. The factory used them for a reason and the bean counters would have stopped the use if it was not needed. My guess is that it keeps the trim ring from cutting into the paint which would let water under the paint. The gasket is the thinkess of a dime larger around the trim ring edge.
