You done well with them too. Buying and paying off houses at a young age is a sign of learning. You couple of houses, nice garages and a stable if Mopars a sign of diligence and hard work.

-20°F wind chill? I've been fighting my well pressure switch all day because it froze up at 14°F! Finally got one of those think plastic sprinkler boxes and put a heat lamp in it and covered the pressure switch with it! I can't imagine living somewhere colder than here!!

Don, I love this post showing all the details you have!

thanks, I used to build complete gas stations, truck stops etc. from the ground up, I stick to the interior framing drywall ceilings etc. now bid a job in owosso, michigan was scheduled to start in august, well with delays ended up starting January, was one of the worst winters we had in a while very cold and alot of snow, we had air nailers that were freezing, used antifreeze lube in the lines after a while go no, so we built a dog house to contain the compressor with a water trap inside threw a 500 watt halogen in inside it, back in buisiness, last exterior job I've bid, been about 10 years. your story reminded me of that, great minds think alike.

well had to remove the fenders wanted to complete the cowl area now, than later while the engine is out will make the painting of the exterior of the car later alot easier, damn snowball effect! removed the wiper arms and grabbed a 3" wire wheel mean one I got from hilti, stripped alot of undercoating off a 62 cadillac biraritz i had a few years ago. this session took about 3 hrs. arms and hands are killed, but looks good and the paint should be pretty sweet the first pic is before but has the neon light tinting it purple.

well final cleaning before paint prep, going around with a mini belt sander 1/2" x 18" belts gets into tight areas and a kinda dental pic from harbor frieght, scraping the seams and getting out the last of the crud I can see. Saw some fuzz in a hole under the UCA mount more mouse nest, same on both sides, thinking they are the las of that, well maybe? bought the us car tool fender braces from AMD

that fit over the stock cowl to inner fender wall braces, drivers side cracked at cowl, some rust just under at cowl drain area. were supposed to be here today but they changed it to tomorrow. And yes the gift that keeps on giving, more blast media.

well, cowl drains were a little rough inner fender braces pretty much intact, drivers side was cracked, so the was some flexing going on. So removed the braces and cut the rot from the cowl. Picked up some rust encapsulater. and coated the inside of the cowl at the metal sandwiching areas to stop any further rot before welding in the patches.

picked up a US car tool fender braces, a bit overkill (thickness) but really tighten up the front end of the car. being that the previous owner had welded in some patches on the inner fenders where the front hood hinge bolts thru, I cut and pin welded in a backer brace to complete the 3 sided fender brace into a complete box brace, and added a couple weld nuts for the front hood hinge bolt. had a shot of the inner brace thru the hole cut outs but file is too large that what she said. also had a stress crack on the firewall under the wiper motor area, not sure if it was stressed from the car flexing or if it was from when it was stamped. The shock tower on the passenger side had another brace on top of it that connects to the inner fender brace, must have been welded after lunch that day in 1970, all six spot welds missed the top of the shock tower, nothing holding the tower from flexing except the thin metal of the inner fender. This car should drive a hell of alot different from what it did last summer.

Thank God the welding is over, going to use some all metal on the interior floor board clean up the rest, rust encapsulate the remainder, install the sound mat while not cutting out the drain holes, etc. to keep the overspray from going inside the car when painting next week, yes next week.

wire wheeled the rest of the floorboard and coated with rust encapsulator, then ran brushable seam sealer yesterday cranked up the heat and put a fan in the trunk. Car comes off the lift today for a final blow down with a leaf blower and then a light rinse on the exterior paint to clean off the construction debrie before masking the car off. coating inside of frame rails and installing dynamat on floor and inside of firewall to seal off all the holes to the interior to mask off before the primer and paint starts. can't wait to cover the ugly up. A necessary evil to stop the surface rust on the floorboards

That xmat should cut down on a lot of road noise thru the floor boards. How is it to lay down? Once it touches down on the metal can you lift it back up for any adjustments? Or is it once down it's over and done.

you can peel it back off if it touches, I peel back about a quarter of the backing paper where I start the xmat. and pull the paper off from underneath while applying. got a little mini roller and basically it contours to the metal very good. Once you roll it down It would not be fun to pull back off
