Anybody running electric cut outs on their cars? If so, what brand are you running, and are their issues I should look out for? Just swapped a 512 into my Challenger and was thinking of adding them. My concern is exhaust leaks popping up.

Thanks!

There are two styles, Direct Drive and gear reduction. The gear reduction motors are more powerful and can still close tightly even with a little bit of carbon build up.

We're partial to the Pypes Cutouts:

I'm running some. I ordered mine from Kindig-it. They don't make them but, they are their own design. I picked their product as they are pretty low profile and they put them on most of their builds and, I doubt they want somebody bringing their high dollar built car back over some flakey cut outs. I put them on this spring and so far they have been great and problem free.

The butter-fly type will eventually leak due to exhaust residue buildup as they don't seal well.. The best design is by Headers by Doug, pricey as the sliding gate tends to clean itself. The DC motor is a Dayton reduction type... I bought an early prototype set from Doug @ one of the 1st car shows(Spring Fling) he showed these, been on the Mopar for 17 years..

Just my $0.02... ;)

Those look good! Do you have any video or sound clips to show the difference in volume?

I believe I have 3" DMH exhaust cutouts, I have had them on the car for 15 years. Electric is way better then manual. I run a O2 sensor and had to add a section of exhaust after the cutout so I would still get accurete afr readings

I used Quick Time ovals. Splicing them into the 3" TTI X pipe was really just a dry fitting exercise. I wanted them symmetrical and max clearance both ground and heat on surrounding area.

Now the wiring routing and getting the interior switch location and appearance is another deal. (I couldn't use the radio shack switch QTP supplied.)
