That's great to hear. One of the main principles is when you have cracks in the dash pad it rolls up as it shrinks so you have to be willing to cut the vinyl back a good ways. If you can lay a ruler across the crack and it's flat you're fine but if it's holding the ruler up at any location it's not perfectly flat then you need to take more vinyl out. There are a few videos out there if you search for cracked dash repair. Good luck

Randomly came across this publication the other day. Note page 8 for padded dash repair.

That's a nice review on how to do it. I pretty much did technique One with creating the v and then fusing the plastic rod and grinding and texture

update , i almost have my cap installed. i did it one area at a time . after trimming the high areas and filling in some lows and cracks in the base foam . i’m actually happy with the results. looks darn good for the time and money invested. a few small flaws but will work fine until i locate a new pad….i stated by dry fitting and trimming any high spots , clamping for a good fit useing vise grip c clamps of all sizes and wooden blocks against the cap to distribute pressure. un clamped the windshield side of cap and silicone glued vent and vin tag areas . clamped and let cure 48 hours . then un clamped opposite and sides of cap , applied glue about an inch from edges and re clamped the whole thing . again let cure 48 hours until i removed clamps . at the area above the glove box i used 2 ratchet straps and a wooden 1x2 to keep pressure there …

Nice!
I’ll say it again, the dash capped dash I took off looked better than what I got from the Texas guys.

Looks like a very nice job. Congratulations. Sometimes I think we try to make these original $4,000 cars too perfect.
